Sometimes you don’t feel up for a full kitchen remodel. Either you don’t have the energy to invest in it—a full remodeling can take months, after all—or maybe you don’t have the budget at the moment. In this blog, kitchen and bathroom cabinets remodeler Harbour View Kitchen & Bath shares some remodeling hacks that will make it look like you’ve had a full kitchen remodel.
Contact Paper on Counter
A standalone countertop replacement can take a lot of work. If it’s starting to show severe wear and tear and you want to hide it until you can get your kitchen remodeling started, some contact paper will do the trick. This inexpensive adhesive-backed material is available in virtually every imaginable design, including faux marble and cartoon characters. Be sure to take your time and be careful when installing contact paper: it’s hard to get rid of bubbles in the adhesive layer once you’ve installed it.
Reface the Cabinets
For some real kitchen remodeling that won’t break the bank, have the kitchen cabinets refaced. Refacing keeps the cabinet boxes intact, while removing and replacing the cabinet doors and hardware. The cabinet exterior can either be kept as-is, or covered with veneer. Refacing is a good option if you would rather not change the way you move around in the kitchen.
Install a Pegboard
You probably think of garages and workshops rahter than kitchens when talking about pegboards. But pegboards are one of the most practical additions that you can “hack” for use in your kitchen. You can use it for virtually anything: a spice rack, a display station, or cookware storage. Perhaps even a combination of all of these.
Backsplashes With Tile Decals
You can give a plain-looking backsplash a makeover with tile decals. They’re easy to find, don’t cost much, and is available in a variety of textures and designs that you can virtually have a new backsplash on a weekly basis if you want to.
